What is KITHELD, in one sentence
A household preparedness app for the UK that holds a checklist based on UK Government preparedness guidance alongside a record of the things in your house that answer it, so you know what you’ve got and where it is.
Is this the official Government checklist
No. The checklist is based on UK Government preparedness guidance, but this is not the official list and is not endorsed by the government. Read the official pages as well. Where our list goes further, it is because a household record needs quantities and places that general advice does not give.
How long does it take to set up
About ten minutes for the first pass. Set the household numbers, then add the things you already own, one cupboard at a time. Every household starts here. Add one thing you already own and the checklist starts to fill.
Does it work without a signal
Yes. Records are written to your phone first and read from it always, so the app opens and works with no connection. Sync catches up when a connection returns, and if it cannot reach us we keep trying, and nothing you’ve recorded is lost.
Why are there no percentages
Because a number out of a hundred would be a verdict on your household, and a false one. Coverage is shown as counts, such as nine of twenty-four sorted, and as three named tiers: Getting started, Part way, Prepared. Prepared describes your checklist coverage today, not a promise about what might happen.
What does a subscription pay for
Adding and editing need a subscription. Reading what you have recorded, the full checklist, expiry reminders already set, exporting your record and Emergency view all keep working without one. Price and trial length will be confirmed before launch.
What happens to my record if I stop paying
It stays where it is, readable, including in Emergency view. You can also export it at any time. Nothing is deleted and nothing is hidden behind the paywall.
Where do my photos go
They stay on your phone. Photos are not uploaded, and there are no filters or adjustments applied to them. More on privacy and data.
Can two people in a household share one record
Yes. Sync keeps the household’s phones showing the same items and places, so whoever is standing at the cupboard can update it.
Which phones does it run on
iPhone and Android phones, with tablets supported by widening the same layout. The beta runs through TestFlight on iPhone and Google Play on Android.
Do you tell me what to buy
No. The app shows amounts for your household and leaves the shopping to you. Suggestions only. Nothing to buy here, and there are no affiliate links or sponsored items anywhere on this site.
